ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm Alexa :) I'm a 23 year old recent graduate from the US traveling whenever I get the chance to take time off from work. I'd describe myself as down to earth and open minded, and always looking to learn and try new things.

I studied business in university, but I have a ton of interests. I especially love music and food - my dream is to be a DJ or open up a restaurant. But in the meantime I got myself a more realistic job. I'm insatiably curious and can't leave a question unanswered. My friends would definitely call me a nerd. I'd agree.

I'm absolutely my happiest when I travel. I generally travel alone because I find it's the best way to interact with locals, make new friends, and explore the city at my own pace. I've had such wonderful experiences solo traveling and have made amazing friends along the way. Whenever I visit a new city, one of my first priorities though is to eat all the best food, so I'm always looking for recommendations from locals :) To make up for all the food, I try to be outdoorsy - I love hiking and cycling. Recently, I've gotten into adventure travel as well...like jumping off and out of things. Hang gliding, skydiving, paragliding, all that fun stuff!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I studied abroad in Denmark in Fall of 2013, I used Couchsurfing to meet up with visitors in Copenhagen and with locals when I traveled. In 2015, I backed packed Europe after visiting Thailand, and many generous souls opened up their home and city to host me :) Now back in the USA, I'll be sure to return the favor in New York City!

兴趣

I love music, food and traveling. I listen to every kind of music, from indie to classical to metal. In my free time, I'm learning to DJ and produce digital music. I also enjoy cooking and baking, and I especially love making dessert. Finally, traveling and meeting new people mean a lot to me. My goal is to be able to look at a map and say I've been to, or know someone from, every country in the world :)

Camping out in an Israeli village during a meteor shower. Never in my life have I been able to see such a pure view of space and so many stars!

I'm what most would call "A jack of all trades, master of none." I'm not the best at anything, but I know a little about a lot of things! In terms of learning, I really want to learn photography.

I'm a pretty good dessert maker :) I can teach you some twists of my American favorites. I also love sharing music recommendations with others, so you'll end up with a playlist from me if you want one. And of course, I can share general chatter and travel stories! I probably won't be the couchsurfer you meet who is the most interesting or exciting; it's much more likely that I'll be one of the most nerdy - so more than anything, I can share fun facts and make a great trivia game partner :)
