Overview
About Me
Hey there fellow couchsurfers, I'm a historian of eighteenth-century France. I hold two PhDs, one from the Sorbonne, another from SUNY-Buffalo. So I'm about that academic life!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I just earned my PhDs, and I'm traveling to a history conference in Philadelphia. I want to meet interesting local people from the 215! And as a recent graduate, my budget is tight.
Interests
- literature
- vegetarian cooking
Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite author is Émile Zola, and lately I've been really getting into Indian literature (Adiga, Phukan, Kapur, etc.)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I moved to Paris as a younger man, learned the language, and didn't stop until a PhD from the Sorbonne.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a university instructor by trade, so I love to teach and learn! Teaching history makes me feel alive, but I also have a heart for personal stories. Learning people's life stories is grist for much thought.
Countries I’ve Visited
