About Me

I had lived in Indonesia for the big part of 7 years when, in 2017, I decided to give my home country another go. Have been working in management for 5 years and am currently working part-time, pursuing a Master's degree as well.

A few years ago, I found the joy and love of my life in surfing. For I wish I had found it much sooner, I got a lot of catching up to do :) Hence, I decided to move to the Gold Coast in late August (also pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Environments and Planning at Bond University).

I would absolutely love to have local friends and surf buddies to share smiles, laughter, knowledge, stories, waves and stoke with.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to share experience and actively learn about what it is that determines people's lives. During my time in Indonesia and Germany, I could feel the difference I made to people's trips providing them with some information on the places and cultures they visited. Throughout my own travels, I have valued and enjoyed most the places where locals shared their knowledge with me, allowing me to be part of the real life. Very rarely, those who allowed me to share didn't become very close friends.

Million Dollar Baby

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Become so local in Indonesia, little kids would stare at me (while I spoke in Indonesian) and tell their mums "she looks like a foreigner".

Teach, Learn, Share

I am happy to teach language skills and share my knowledge on gardening, Indonesia and some cooking.
I love to learn about different cultures and - after a series of injuries - would love to get back into and improve my surfing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

It is always difficult to give back as much as you receive from a host but real friendships persist beyond geographical distance and usually at some point you break even. I am more than happy to share my experience and stories from more than 5 years living in Indonesia, and I would love to share surfs and other activities which are just more fun if in company. I love gardening and am happy to cook and help around the house. Even though I am German, I guess I can be fun to be around, too ;)
