ABOUT ME

I'm Alexandra. A super curious girl, morning lover and caffeine addict. Love to discover something new every day.
I'm so much happier with sunlight but I (almost) hate summer. I do prefer fall/winter and the cold time.

I was born in Azores islands, and I've moved to Lisbon to go to the college. I fell in love with the city but, for now, I feel that I need to explore the world outside my comfort zone. So I'm a backpacker during a gap year!

PHILOSOPHY

I've studied Economics for 3 years, something that I haven't liked. It has served to understand that there's no point to try to fit in something where you can't be happy. So, today is always a good day to start from the very beginning, if it's the right way.
You need to start something that really makes you feel good, and the first step is, most of the times, the hardest. Then you just need to go with the flow..!

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I've just finished college and I'm doing a gap year with a friend. We're travelling together across the Europe, and we want to know not just the countries or the cities we'll visit, but also their people. We don't want to be the common tourists, we want to feel that we belong at, and, for that, we understand that couchsurfing is the best way to meet with the places' souls and really feel them, instead of book an hostel, follow a travel's guide and just check the 'must see' spots.
Now we're moving for our next work exchange, but who knows the next step..!

I'm graduated in Advertising and Marketing and I love this world. The ads, the brands, their stories and the creative process behind.
I also like any kind of store (not just for shopping!) and I love to know all the work behind doors, all that backstage world only accessible for those who works there.

I can't say that I also like to observe people without look like a stalker, but sometimes I do. It's kind of a research process and I can excuse myself as a professional defect!

I'm completely addicted to Travel Channel and National Geographic, especially the House Hunters International and The Ultimate Airport tv shows. Think it's a way to offset the urge to travel (and to increase my bucket list) ! :)

I also like to run and love to do some bike rides through the city. I hope to enjoy others cities across the globe on two wheels!

When I was a little girl I dreamed to be a math teacher, as my mother. Then I grew up, this dream gone but the interest by numbers remains with me.

I don't have a favourite book, I just like to read. Books, newspapers, magazines, blogs, cereal boxes.. everything that have a bunch of words and keep me entertained for a while :)
Favourite author? Maybe Jodi Picoult, but on my ebook reader there's a lot of different names.

About music, I really love any movie soundtrack but I like Yann Tiersen's work a lot, specially the Amélie Poulain movie.
I think music let your mind travel and reminds you about people and places. The right music could change a moment, and I keep myself searching for my own life soundtrack :)

I love to receive friends at home for dinner (even if the meal is a cheap pizza) and I think the moments around a table (preferably with food!) are one of the best things in life.
As I said before, I love to discover something new every day, and if I've learned it with someone else, better! I want to know more about people's life, their countries and their habits. It's very interesting to understand the different cultures around the world, and I'll be pleased to talk about us, portuguese people (((:
I'm not a great cook, but I could try to talk about our gastronomic heritage (and we'll always have google!).
