About Me

ABOUT ME

Gal from Upstate NY slowly but surely becoming a Texan. I enjoy meeting and learning from people from a variety of different walks of life, especially when it comes to history and culture. The promise of some sort of adventure that's knowledge-expanding but also offers amusement intrigues me. I'm quick with my wit and an equal devourer of literature and the cinema (not literally of course)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Initially I heard about this site from a few friends who have used it and have had nothing but good things to say about it regarding their own trips. Also just want to experience the places I go not just as a stereotypical sightseer, but in good company with those who have a well rounded knowledge of what to do in the city they call home.

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste in music is somewhat eclectic:I enjoy some 60s psychedelia, a good dose of black, death and doom metal (folk too!) and a bit of 90s dance. As far as books go anything, I lean towards horror and fantasy lit, but like a good memoir as well. As noted earlier I'm definitely into the weirder, darker, cult side of cinema (i.e. 80's slasher movies) but always open to recommendations for movies of all genres.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled solo from Rochester to a horror convention in Indianapolis

Teach, Learn, Share

I know quite a bit when it comes to independent and weird cinema/TV/horror. If you're trying to remember that slasher VHS you watched 10 yrs ago by that one Italian director, I may just have the answer.

Also if you're trying to do/shop/eat anything in the Rochester or Buffalo area outside of the typical tourist stop, at the very least I know where you can start.

What I Can Share with Hosts

1.As a guest in someone's home, I always try to treat the lodgings as I would want a guest to treat my own home during their stay. I'm very neat, respectful of one's need of quiet hours and flexible regarding their preferences for how they involved they want to be in showing me around, I'm great with getting a sight by sight tour, but don't mind going around town on my own. 2. Witty banter.
