About Me

I am a graphic and web designer in ads agency. I have always wanted to connect my life with some kind of creative so that I can make the world a more beautiful place through the beauty I create. Along with that I am an English tutor. I have been teaching kids, school children and adults for 4 years now. We are training to pass university entrance exams and to evolve the language proficiency level. Plus, I am planning to launch a brand of knitted bags I will create with my own hands :) As you see I am extremely passionate about creating beauty and passing my experience and knowledge to those in need of it.

I almost graduated from Minsk State Linguistic University. Why almost? :) I have chosen developing myself in the spheres I am interested in instead of spending my time working out the education. I have successfully passed all 5 years but there's a special system in Belarus that makes you "work out" 2 years after graduation as a pay back for studying for free. I was both lucky and unlucky to study on a budgetary basis. So I owe my uni 10k$ for not working out, if I want to get my diploma. There are 2 ways out. Either pass final exams and work full time for a low salary for 2 years or be without a diploma :) But I am sooo grateful for all the years and knowledge I’ve obtained that I am using now. I don’t really think that having a diploma determines me as a worse pro than those who got it.

I am Belarusian and take pride it. I was born is a small town called Smorgon which is located in the north-west of Belarus. My home town is famous for a great poet Frantishak Bagushevich who was born in this region. He was one of the founders of Belarusian literature. As the other Belarusian-speaking poets and writes he promoted and praised the beauty, melodiousness and richness of the Belarusian language as well as our culture. For most of the time our mother tongue was seen as a language of those who live in rural areas. Unfortunately, this idea remains in the minds of some of our people. Sadly, our language is dying. But we are definitely trying to do our best to revive it as it’s our treasure. Except Frantishak, we have another outstanding person. His name is Michal Kleafas Aginski. I am attaching a link to explore his works. They can tell more about him than I can. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rB-VBCNUdE (I hope it is possible to copy it.) The Polonez is about him leaving his homeland after the Russian Empire suppressed Tadeush Kastyushka uprising for freedom from the RE.

I am supposed to speak about myself, but I have lost the thread :)

Despite the fact that I was born in Smorgon, I have been living in Minsk since I was 9. My parents moved to the capital to give me more opportunities to study and to socialise. So here I am. Having the time of my life in the city I adore. I start my day with skin care, a book and a nice savoury breakfast. While cooking I always listen to music and dance :) It helps me to stay unwinded and relaxed during the day instead of diving into my everyday duties once I open my eyes. I am planning to include yoga and swimming into my morning routine. I finish my day with a book, a note in the diary and a meditation.

I am keen on cooking. This is a great part of my life. It helps me be a proper human-being that’s why I am pretty careful about my diet :) I love cooking for my dears and sharing recipes with them. I can cook you our traditional dish Draniki :) They are made of potatoes and usually served with fried bacon and sour cream.

I regularly donate or go to a cat and dog shelter. I help taking care of them. It is difficult for their wounded hearts to open. But ones it happens the magic starts. We exchange our unconditional love and have fun together. I am dreaming of opening a shelter to provide them even a better life. People can be so cruel and harsh. And I would be the happiest person if it was not so necessary to open it and I didn’t have this dream. I want everyone to be more responsible for these small noses. A person can have many dogs or cats during their life, but a person is the only one for a dog/cat. My parents have a cute small poodle. I am attaching our photo :)

Styling is my recent passion. I enjoy combing things in my wardrobe. It helps me express my mood and state of mind and soul.

As you see I am fond of Belarusian history and culture. I have so many interesting facts to tell!

If to speak about my personality, I am open, energetic and never-giving-up. There is a phrase that goes along with me every day: «The world smiles at those who smiles at it.» I can confidently say it’s my motto.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am dying to explore places not as a usual traveller who superficially goes from one sight to another. I agree that it’s a part of a trip. I am just fed up with aimless walks and shopping. But I want to look deeper into the culture, the sights and the people I see in the streets. I want to know the history and significance that lies under every sight. There’s nothing like spending time with a person who has unbiased inside view on the place. Italy is not only about pizza. As any other place is above all the stereotypes. It’s far greater than them.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite musicians are Foals, Jungle, Little Simz, Jorja Smith, Skepta, KAYTRANADA, Eminem, alt-J, Woodkid, Oh Wonder, Cigarettes After Sex, Celeste, Adele, London Grammar. Looks chaotic :) I like different music and choose a song to match my mood.

Reading is one of the greatest parts of my life. My favourite writer is Somerset Maugham and my favourite books are 1) The Moon and Sixpence (worked out as a reminder to follow the dream I have), 2) Theatre (life is a theatre and we are actors in it :) 3) The merry-go-round (describes the difficulties that people face and how they go through them)
