About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To catalyze a transition toward a more sustainable future.

ABOUT ME

I'm creative. I'm lively. I'm an activist. I'm a friend. I'm a baker. I know a lot of games. I like silly jokes.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm trying to act justly and love radically
"In a gentle way, you can shake the world." - Mahatma Gandhi

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have couchsurfed twice, but haven't had the opportunity to host anyone yet (not too many couchsurfers visit Maryville, Tennessee)!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to CouchSurfing, but I have enjoyed the two experiences I have had so far! I stayed with two incredible women - one in Atlanta and one in Asheville - and enjoyed myself immensely. I look forward to more couchsurfing in the future, and I can't wait to host someone soon!

Interests

I love being outside, especially hiking in the Smoky Mountains. I love knitting and sewing. I'm very interested in environmental justice; in my spare time I work with a high school youth environmental network and a network of college environmentalists in Rhode Island. I currently work part-time at the Rhode Island Department of Health. I also work at an art gallery in Providence on weekends.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - My favorite movie is Amelie. Other than that, I enjoy most genres (other than horror - eek).

Music - I'm from the Southern US, so I listen to a lot of bluegrass and old time music! I am also love folk, indie, alternative, and balkan brass-type music.

Books - Absolutely everything. You give it to me, I'll read it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I rode my bike from Tennessee to Rhode Island one summer with my good friend, Laura. The trip was certainly long (it took almost a month) and grueling (I probably hadn't trained as much as I should have before setting out...), but it was incredible to know that my body and my bike could carry me anywhere!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to teach you how to bake a good loaf of bread!
