About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn as much as possible, as quickly as possible, about everything

ABOUT ME

In my next life I'd like to come back as a Golden Retriever, a Humpback Whale, or a Bald Eagle.

PHILOSOPHY

Treat others how you'd like to be treated. Happiness works best when shared. True contentment comes mostly from helping others. Live and let live. Hakuna matata. Keep it real.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All positive so far, it's been unbelievably awesome. I've met more amazing people and made more friends than I can count.

Interests

Hiking, swimming, biking, surfing, reading, documentaries, music, science, environmentalism, ecology, sustainability, farming.

Music, Movies & Books

Music: Pretty much every kind Movies: Mostly documentaries Books: Mostly non-fiction, especially anything about science, the environment, or politics

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Skydiving over Ka'ena Point on Oahu... the best view in the world, from 14,000 feet at 100 miles per hour.

Watching the great migration crossing the road in front of our jeep in Serengeti National Park, and being close enough to a lion to reach out and touch it.

Hiking across miles of jagged boulders at midnight to the edge of Kilauea Volcano with a friend, and then watching the sun rise over lava flowing into the ocean, creating brand new land right before our eyes... epic.

Also, I got chased out of the ocean by a tiger shark once while surfing at Chun's Reef... that was pretty memorable.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm pretty good with computers and electronics, and I'm handy around the house with fixing stuff in general. My friends also say I'm a walking library of useless knowledge about history, politics, science, and music, so if there's anything you want to know about that stuff, I'm your guy.

I'd like to learn how to cook better, how to farm, how to play the harmonica, and how to build a house. Hopefully all at the same time.

I've found that I've learned more about life by traveling and meeting new people than I ever did in school.
