Overview
About Me
My name is Alexia and I'm an international student in Belgium. I'm only 19, but I left home right after graduating from high school and since then I've lived in Sweden, South Korea, the Netherlands, and (now) Belgium. I love food, embroidery, the arts, and playing clarinet as well as learning about new languages and other people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on couchsurfing because I want to be able to travel on a budget since I'm a student, but also because, everywhere I've traveled, I've had the amazing opportunity to live and work with locals and I want to keep doing that. Because I think traveling should not only be about beaches and cute selfies, but also about learning and becoming a more mindful and educated person.
Interests
I love food, from baking and cooking to serving it and eating. I eat pretty much everything. My palate doesn't discriminate! I grew up with a love of cooking because food brings people together and is really the language of love and appreciation.
I've also been playing clarinet for 8 years and I really love it. Performing in an ensemble is one of the best feelings for me and im always excited to learn a new instrument or style.
I'm also super interested in hand embroidery and I've been embroidering a lot recently in the hopes that I can some day start a small business with it.
Languages are very interesting to me and I was originally a linguistics major before coming to Europe. I grew up in a bilingual family, English and Korean, and I'm just fascinated by how language develops and evolves and how it shapes people and their communities.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love most science fiction and fantasy genres. I love Orson Scott Card's works (he himself is not as loveable), Brandon Sanderson's high fantasy Stormlight series, and other generally fantastic and allegorical works. For movies, I like anything Except for super cheese romcoms, horror, and overly gorey things.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Moved to a different continent by myself at 17 years old
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach about moving places by yourself, growing up in a rural place, or anything that I have experience in. I can also teach baking!
I want to learn about everything. Most people go to university to get a job, but I'm studying because I love learning and I love people, especially people who also love to learn.
