About Me

I'm a scientist carrying out some research in experimental soft matter. In my job, I'm then an observer of the world surrounding us (soft matter esearch involves such "common" topics as foams, shampoo, bubbles, sand, toothpaste, etc.), using an atypical point of view to bring out some new pieces of knowledge to the world. And I like to do the same with my relationships: discovering new personalities helps me to open my mind to new ideas and original points of view enables makes me grow up. And visiting foreign countries with unknown traditions has the same effect.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is an easy way to meet new people while travelling. When I moved into my new flat, I chose a place near the town center and the station, so I could easier travel, meet people and wlecome my friends after downtown parties. When I heared about couchsurfing, a few months later, I immediately liked the concept. Indeed, I believe this way of meeting people will speed up the enlargement process of my friends community around the world.

However, I often travel for my job and don't get a lot of vacation when I'm home... I would probably not be able to spend entire days with guests (except during weekends). Nevertheless, I have a bed destined to friends I'd be happy to share with travellers and I'd be happy to share a cup of tea (or any other drink) in the evening while talking about all and nothing. If you enjoy freedom and talkings, you're welcome.

Interests

I'm a big fan of science (of course!). I also love music of every kind, but especially blues, pop rock and folk. I play the harmonica and I love hearing new style of music (despite I prefer soft music and I do not really enjoy rap or metal as much as other kinds of music... But I can understand why some people like those styles, from their peculiarities ;-) )

Music, Movies, and Books

I think performing a thorough list of my favorite musicians would require too much space! And moreover, I often fall in love with local artists which aren't known around the world as they deserve it! Amongst the most well-known artists, let's cite The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Muddy Waters, Garry Moore, Muse and Queen as some of the most inspiring musicians I know (and this list is completely disordered and incomplete!).

I haven't read for a while, since I prefer spending time on carrying out research, playing music or just being with friends. However, when I was a child, reading was of my favorite hobbies. I've read The Lord of the Rings before the age of twelve, and I also read other books from Tolkien (The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales of Númenor and Middle-earth, The Adventures of Tom Bombadil and Other Verses from the Red Book--actually, I read all the french translations of Tolkien's books I've found!), as well as some books of C.S. Lewis (including the entire saga of Narnia, of course). For seven years, my Christmas gift was the last Harry Potter I read in three-days time.

I also enjoyed David Gemmel's universe (but I still haven't performed a thorough read of his production) and some french authors as Marie-Aude Murail, Moka and Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt. Actually, the books of the latter are part of the scarce books I've read several times, mainly during the study sessions before my university's exams.

I have a library I'd be happy to share with you (but most of my books are in french).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, it probably highly depends on what 'amazing' means to you... We can discuss about that when we'll meet each other! ;-)

Teach, Learn, Share

As physicist, I'd be glad to share what I know about the universe's behavior and philosophical implications of the most advanced scientific theories. (However, I wouldn't be frustrated if you don't wanna hear those kinds of complex things that puzzle so many people! ;-) ). Speaking about social habits, relationships and travels is also very pleasant to me!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I often travel with some card games and harmonicas since I love playing games and music with people. I would enjoy learning games, hearing about social habits from other cultures or just enjoying the atmosphere of a bar but I also love going for a walk in natural landscapes and discovering cultural legacy. (And I'd like to compare the science museum of the different capital cities I visit, since I've never be disappointed by any of them until now. I'm can be a pretty good guide for the physical sections! ;-) )
