About Me

I am a storyteller, who is fascinated by other cultures. I love to travel, share stories with people and debate the big questions. I try to contribute to the places I go to, by learning from the locals and giving back however I can. I like to make travel about exchange, because it creates the most meaningful connections in a short amount of time.

I have family spread over four continents and have no single place I call home. I am officially a French citizen, I grew up in the United States and currently work as a designer in Canada.

I believe life is one great learning experience. I think the most valuable thing I can do with my time here is to learn things that challenge me, and help others find what they are seeking.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My first courchsurfing experience happened in England, when I was hiking from London to Oxford with a friend, and we ended up in the middle of nowhere one night. A family took us in and we had dinner, swapped stories, and made a great connection.

I'm on Couchsurfing because I think that staying with locals in their home is one of the most meaningful ways to immerse myself into a place I don't know and contribute to it. It's important to me that my travel does not only consume a place, but gives back to the place I'm visiting as much as I take. I couchsurf because it makes me engage with local people. Hopefully we both walk away from the encounter better for it.

Interests

I like to meet people, to have fun, to go out, to discover new things and go on adventures. I look forward to making new travel buddies.
In my own time, I like to write, make graphics, read, watch movies, and meditate.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ask me about this when you meet me. I love music, books and movies, and can debate about them for hours, but always find it to be a monumental existential dilemma to have to pick favorites (it means I have to leave out ALL the others!).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My most fulfilling experience so far was teaching English and Science to Burmese refugees in Thailand for six months in 2012, in the border town of Mae Sot. This is a blog entry I wrote at the close of that time: http://imaginationbyreality.wordpress.com/2012/11/26/we-are-love-you/

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach languages, especially through games and improv, rather than a classroom. I'm happy to exchange writing and know a good number of writing games and exercises. I also love to share my knowledge of graphics software such as Photoshop.
I also have plenty of travel stories to share.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I come with an open mind, a willingness to engage and to learn, a love for long conversations, and a desire to participate in a way that is needed. I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty, and I believe in cleaning up after my own messes.
