We met at a poetry reading in 2006. We were married in 2010. We love experiential learning. We enjoy good food, good music, good coffee, and good conversation.

PHILOSOPHY

We need a better recession... some sort of opportunity to move away from an economy based on infinite growth and consumption.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed a little in Kenya and almost fell for what was apparently a common scam. If I wasn't couchsurfing where I had people like Maxwell around me, who knew what was going on and knew Swahili, then I wouldn't have had nearly as pleasant a trip.
I studied anthropology. It's so much more interesting to experience a place from the eyes of a local.

Kayla- As a scholar of literature, this is a difficult question to answer, but lately I have been reading a lot of religious and spiritual texts of the world. I love Tom Robbins. My M.A. Thesis was on Burroughs`s Naked Lunch. I love poetry. I read Life of Pi recently in 3 days. Couldn`t put it down. My musical tastes have evolved from strictly jam bands on the concert circuit to a more global appreciation of music. I really dig Indian music and African music and Mexican music.

Ice fishing for perch and salmon in the Adirondacks. There was even a rainbow out that day. Feeding hyenas was a rush.

Standing atop Blue Mountain in February, -20 degrees, with so much cloud cover, you couldn`t even see the fire tower.
