CURRENT MISSION

I am a substitute teacher in Portland, OR, but currently a teacher in a special education school. I hope to begin graduate studies next year and further my education as a teacher!

ABOUT ME

I try my best to be a student of everything, everywhere. My recent experiences include a two-year stint working in a small NGO in Western Uganda and about four months of living and traveling around Europe. After that, I spent one year teaching English in Nagoya, Japan. I made the move to Portland and have been teaching in many roles since then.

I like being a teacher when I can. I am a listener. I'm an introvert but am always up for trying anything once or twice. Generally I'm pretty terrible at writing personal descriptions.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While living in Uganda I had my first experiences hosting on CS, and all the couchsurfers I met were fantastic and interesting people. Since then, I've couchsurfed in Africa and Europe, and have not had a bad experience.

I believe CS can really bring people together in unexpected ways. Especially as a solo traveler, CS has provided me with opportunities to experience places that just don't happen in a hostel or otherwise.

Now that I'm hosting again, I really don't mind if people just need a place to stay. Of course it would be great to get to know you, but I understand that traveling can be tiring and sometimes you just need a break.

Interessi

cooking, traveling, reading a good book, hiking and climbing, morning runs, good coffee, driving long distances with only bad gas station coffee, trying to learn new languages, thinking about education, trying to understand the world around me.
