About Me

I will be traveling all of November, so I'm not accepting guests now. Sorry!

I was born in Spain, but I am of Chinese ancestry. I've lived in the United States for almost 10 years, studying and then working there (in the Boston area), but I call Madrid my home city and are happy to be located here now. I studied economics and worked in the consulting world for a few years, but I then decided to move back to Spain to set up a small business of my own to have more independence.

I consider myself a very easy going and open-minded person, always open to learn and to have new experiences. It's difficult for me to say "no" to a new experience, and I usually don't have any regrets!

I have been practicing yoga, chikung, and meditation for several years, and I recognize the importance of taking a step back to appreciate the beauty of life.

At the same time, I don't pull back from the opportunities to enjoy the pleasures of modern life: fine food and wine, movies, technology, travel, psytrance festivals...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My first time Couchsurfing was during a trip to Iran, where I had some amazing experiences meeting, staying, and learning from locals. As much as I had traveled previously, Couchsurfing really took traveling to a higher level and made me go beyond the superficial sightseeing tourist experience

Back home, I have hosted quite a few people, with whom I have had some great experiences. I have established a strong connection with some of guests and I have made friendships that I hope will last a long time.

Interests

Traveling (of course!), hiking (getting back in touch with nature, have been a city person for too long), dancing, electronic music (psytrance, and others), yoga, chikung, meditation, photography, trying new food (the second best thing about traveling), scuba diving, psychonautics...

I love to cook and have friends over for dinner. I think that the best thing about food and wine are the social interactions that come along with them. At the same time I am also helping to cook food for a community organization that distributes meals to those in need in central Madrid.

I like all sorts of music, but particularly electronic music (psytrance, techno, chill, psybient, Shpongle, Mathew Johnson, Kraftwerk, Amon Tobin), jazz (Davis, Coltrane, Hancock, Monk, Mingus), and classical music (Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Stravinsky, Glass), The XX, Stereolab, Lykke Li, New Order, Of Montreal, Belle and Sebastian, The National, new age (Jonathan Goldman, David Parsons, Antanukama)...

Books: Memoirs of Hadrian, On the Road, Catcher in the Rye, Momo, Crime and Punishment, Food of the Gods, 1984, Lolita, Power of Now, Man's Search for Meaning

Movies: American Beauty, Blade Runner, Rebecca, Laberinto de Pasiones, Clockwork Orange, Sunset Boulevard, Viridiana, Metropolis, Vegas in Space

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I try to always be true to myself, go with the flow, and face all situations with a smile! I am not there yet, and don't know whether I will ever get there, but I try to enjoy the road, since this is where I am now!

Teach, Learn, Share

When traveling, I am happy to cook some Spanish dishes for my hosts, and to teach them some Spanish. Conversely, I will also be very happy to savor some tasty dishes cooked by my guests!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I work from home, but I usually have free time to show you around, and certainly to go out to have a tea or a drink with you. I can even get you in for free to the Reina Sofia Museum, since I get complimentary entrance tickets.
