About Me
Heyya Couch-surfing compadres, Sofa-sleeping sweetiepies and fellow furniture frolickers! I'm Ali and I grew up in the British Virgin Islands, a teeny-tiny cluster of islands in the northern Caribbean known for our spectacular sailing. My family works for hotels, and because of that I have lived in them pretty much my entire life. I speak french because I was born in Montreal. I've moved around with my family to several islands in the Caribbean before I went to college in Upstate New York where I studied music and lived in a vegetarian co-op (I am no longer a full-on vegetarian, but I still strongly live with the goals of fostering community and being environmentally conscious.) I'm also great at living with a lot of people, meaning that I am sensitive to the needs of others and love making people happy. I love spontaneous adventures, being outdoors and cooking for lots of people. I'm bubbly and energetic and am pretty much always down for every experience. That being said, I also love exploring alone and taking the time to watch the shadows and light change on everything I see as I walk around a new place.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been wanting to be a member of Couchsurfing for a long time, but due to the nebulous nature of my life at this time, and my slightly nomadic existence, I haven't been able to offer a space for people to stay. I found out a couple of days ago that I'm going to be performing at a wedding in Sydney very very soon, not giving me much of a chance to sort out any adventures and activities beforehand. The last thing I want is to end up being roped into a typical tourist experience. I also don't know anyone in Sydney, and would love to meet people who can help me see what real life is like there and who I can share some laughs with. I want to live as cheaply as possible as well, which I feel like only real inhabitants know how to do.
Interests
Performing music; I've spent a couple of summers busking in Boston and plan on doing some more of that during my travels. It makes me happy :)
Swimming, sailing, windsurfing and pretty much anything ocean related.
Bicycling and hiking. I'm preparing for a cross-country bike trip across the United states in May :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was 13, I windsurfed 13 miles across open ocean from Virgin Gorda to Anegada as a part of the HIHO windsurfing regatta. At the time I was the youngest person ever to have done it. That was the peak of my windsurfing career, it's all gone downhill since then haha
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook a mean curry and love making sushi. I can clean up your house real nice (got those hotel genes)
Countries I’ve Lived In
Canada, United States, Virgin Islands, British
