About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore infinity and beyond

ABOUT ME

I'm an adventure-seeking ginger from the USA, living and working in the wonderful, but always cold and windy city of Copenhagen. I love to travel, experience new cultures, food, music, art and architecture.

I'm intellectually curious, trustworthy, observant, open-minded, non-smoking, courteous and love good company and conversation.

I also am a visual artist. Check out my website www.alicrank.com

PHILOSOPHY

I still have much to learn and have no set philosophy yet. I hope as I get older and wiser I will develop my own from bits and pieces

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just joined CS so I don't have an experiences yet, but I look forward to beginning to travel and host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Nothing yet, but hopefully soon.

Interests

I know bushels about art, architecture and Danish design. I'm trained in opera and classical piano. I used to play flute and piccolo. I studied architecture, printmaking, drawing and sculpture.

I also love being in the outdoors (except tanning on beaches as I am a redhead), kayaking, museums, travelling, biking, singing, music, architecture, design, diet coke, hiking.....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. The Buddist temple Mt. Hei near Kyoto, Japan. I went there in January to study the architecture of spiritual spaces. The long ride up the mountain to the temple provided amazing views of snow covered bamboo and the temple itself was breathtaking beautiful and mysterious at the same time.

2. Northern Scotland. I went on a drive all across the countryside, to the highlands, up to Inverness and back down. The drive was amazing, from the crystal Narnia-like lands, to the highlands, castles and beyond. I have never seen such a diverse countryside in one trip.

3. Rome, Italy. So much history, art and ancient architecture in one city. Plus a tour of the Vatican with the most incredible tour guide.

4. Delphi, Greece.

5. "The Surreal House" exhibition at the Barbican in London. Best art exhibition I have ever seen.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: drawing, watercolor, sculpture, art history, if you visit me in Copenhagen I know all the good places to go because I've had to organize Architect tours in Copenhagen for my work.
Share: museum walks, cooking, experiences and stories
Learn: I love to meet people from different cultures, backgrounds and stories. It's one of the reasons I left America to live in Europe.
