ABOUT ME

I've been fortunate to have lived in and visited many different places. I was born in China, raised in NYC, and spent my teenage years in the suburbs of Southern California. I have always been hungry to see the world and experience as much as possible. I like to keep myself busy and try to seize every day. People fascinate me--there's nothing I enjoy more than a good conversation and I can people watch for ages. I am very open, both in getting along with different personalities and in sharing about myself.

PHILOSOPHY

“The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn, like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes "Awww!”

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am currently living in a tiny room in UCL student housing, so limited space prevents me from hosting surfers here. I am open to meeting other surfers in London and will potentially surf couches when I travel around Europe after the semester ends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have not surfed or hosted anyone yet, but have several friends who rave about their experiences.

Interests

I absolutely love art; both admiring it and creating it. Lately, I don't spend enough time drawing, but figure drawing is still my favorite pastime. There are few places that I would be happier in than museums. My favorite artist is Edgar Degas, but I also love Art Nouveau and Surrealism. I'm not a doer of photography, but I enjoy the work of Edward Weston, Man Ray, Robert Magglethorpe, and Ryan McGinley. I also like to do yoga, to hike, and to break it down on the dance floor.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I can't carry a tune to save my life, but I can't live without music. I DJ an indie music radio show at my college radio station. Some of my favorite bands/artists include: Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, The Shins, Lykke Li, Beirut, and Sufjan Stevens

Books: Franney and Zooey is my anthem. I also love The Great Gatsby and Slaughterhouse Five. Harry Potter will always hold a special place in my heart.

Movies: Fight Club, Almost Famous, Tree of Life, Amelie

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did the moonwalk for a crowd mourning Michael Jackson's death in front of the Notre Dame.
