My name is Alice Onland and I am a 21 year old student living in New Zealand. Since I was a child I have always had a strong desire to travel, and have finally decided to take a gap year to go abroad.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This is my first experience with CouchSurfing, however a few of my siblings have extensive experience with this service.

My sister has told me stories of how CouchSurfer hosts have not only provided a roof over her head while travelling, but also been a friend and tour guide for the area, offering local knowledge and experience.

I hope to have a similar experience.

Interests

I have a great interest in Japan, both its culture and language. I have been taking Japanese classes for a few years now, and it is also my Bachelor of Arts major.

I also enjoy Taekwon-Do, and have been a practitioner of this art for 6 years. I achieved my I Dan black belt in December 2013.

I love reading, cycling, listening to music, and watching movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have seen the spectacular scenery New Zealand has to offer when I spent an amazing ten days in Wanaka and Queenstown.
