I’m from Beijing, where I was born and raised, and where I still live now. I find it hard to put into words my love for this city, its deep influence on me, and yes, my occasional boredom with it (a lot of it 🙂). But every time I step away and come back, or see it through someone else’s eyes, I realize there’s always something new to discover — and that’s exciting. So if you’re passing through, maybe I’m the one — the local — who needs your fresh perspective. Please give me that chance!

About me — I go on micro trips every day. Sometimes I get lost in movies, other days I explore near or far, alone or with friends. Books lift me off — history, novels, and long-form journalism — anything that connects me to what’s happening around me. My new little adventure now is moving my body: playing tennis or skiing (still bad at them!), which reminds me of its presence, my closest companion.

I feel grateful for all the tiny sparkles I notice around me — and the brightest of them all is the complexity a real person carries. Some layers can only be seen face to face; let’s meet if we get the chance.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I was in my early 20s, I was very confused about who I was and what kind of life I wanted to live. Back then, I read on a travel BBS (which really exposes my age!) about a Chinese girl around my age Couchsurfing around the world. It really opened my eyes, and it leads me here — to this CS account, and in a way, it’s made me the person I am today.
