About Me

exploring the world before i have to grow up

after taking my time and exploring my interests and aptitudes, I graduated from university last spring. moved to new orelans, worked for americorps, did not know what to expect, and did not come with expectations. certainly been gaining experiences.

unfortunately, i am not much of a planner. although i can tell you the majors on my degree, i can not tell you my career, what I want to be, how I plan to get there or where my home is meant to be. while I am sometimes indecisive, I am not indifferent - I like to explore spontaneously.

for visiting purposes- I like to try new things, but with one exception: animals. i have been vegetarian since i was 5 but other than that I am not picky and want to learn about you, your city/town and have a good time!

a cop out, but a good one nonetheless:

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

I am still relatively new to couch surfing. I look forward to meeting / hosting others, exchanging knowledge ideas and a love of the places, ideas, peoples, natural wonders and communities which inspire and excite.

wandering, walking, people, sketching, reading, bicycle riding, garden making, hiking, attempting to bake create and brew, story sharing, photography, capturing the moment and letting it go, jumping into bodies of water + most things that make me smile.

MOVIES_ pulp fiction, stand by me, dick, to kill a mocking bird, chariots of fire, homeward bound, little miss sunshine, chinatown, the big green, the shining, into the wild, el orfanato, one flew over the cookoos nest - just some of my go tos. but i really enjoy watching movies and documentaries if you have any to share with me. ..

BOOKS_ le petit price, invisible man,1984, mutant message downunder, running with scissors, the giving tree, the bfg, mysteries of pittsburgh, the final solutions, to kill a mockingbird, tender is the night, emmas war, the heart is a lonely hunter, the wanderers, various tom robbins, narinia

One Amazing Thing I've Done

it probably depends on how amazing is defined. most of the experiences i appreciate the most are not especially monumental or book worthy. mainly, i have most enjoyed random travel adventures and findings in everyday life. for a few occurrences possibly interesting to others:

as a cheaper summer camp option I went to camp narnia in canada
every summer as a kid. while I cannot reveal to much about it, i did get to meet asland.

took a 3+ month family road trip through/around the us and canada

one day last year decided to pedal my 70's cruiser 100 miles down the coast to santa barbara, ca

later that year walked the same route. shows how the world is experienced and sensed differently at various scales and paces = successful spring break

waitressed/bar tended while studying in australia, saved up, rented a bike + tent and circumnavigated the south island of new Zealand solo. really the best way to explore on or off a budget....

enjoyed and suffered through hebrew school, was bat mitzvah-ed, and was a kindergarten sunday school teacher while attending and a catholic all-girls school.
