About Me

Hi my name is Alicia! I am on couch surfing because of courseI love meeting new people (but who doesn't)! I am a total foodie so I am so down to go try all the local foods of an area. I am a super adventurous eater so you can throw anything at me and I'll be happy, except for spam, meat should just never be canned. Anyways I am always open to new experiences and would just love to explore the area like a true local. I hope we can meet up, I'm sure we'll have a great time!

Also if you'd like to learn more about me feel free to check out my instagram: alicia_gavrilis

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am couchsurfing because I will be taking my first backpack trip on my own. Apart from not wanting to be alone the entire time, I really want to be able to connect with the culture of the area that I am traveling to. For instance when I lived in San Francisco it always blew my mind that people would travel all the way over here just to go to the touristy downtown area and the pier. There was so much more to the city that those people weren't able to experience! As I travel this summer I would like to see more than just the touristy areas. I'd like to get an insider view and perhaps learn a few funny tidbits about things that happen there. After I return from Traveling I am open to host people. I live at a midpoint between San Francisco and Yosemite National Park, so after I get back, I would be happy to show you around these areas!

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite type of music is classic rock from the 60s and 70s. I absolutely love Janis Joplin, CCR, the Beatles, and the Beach Boys. Okay I know what you're thinking, this girl is another hipster! First of all I'm totally not, I just like more acoustic sounds dude! Apart from that I do like Pink Martini, Haley Reinhart, and Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. But above all "All Star" by Smash Mouth is my fucking anthem and I'm not afraid to say it! Some of my favorite movies are Amelie, Grand Budapest Hotel, and Alice in Wonderland. As for books I really like The Perks of Being a Wallflower, And Then There Were None, the Harry Potter books (duh), and The Goldfinch.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I have done is move to San Francisco when I was 17. I had a blast, it is such an amazing city, but sooooooooo expensive. After two years I had to call it quits but oh boy do I have some interesting stories from living there!

What I Can Share with Hosts

One thing I can share with my host is that I am really good at cooking and am especially known in my family for my Giouvarlakia soup. I can cook a lot of other things too but that soup is my freaking pride and joy. As much as I love cooking, I am THE WORST BAKER ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET. Also as a Greek-American I was subjected to years of Greek Dancing lessons. As a child I hated it! But now that I am older it is one of my passions, I even participate in a competition for it every year!
