About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Live life the way its meant to be!
ABOUT ME
I've moved way too many times in the past 4 years. I never say no to a travel opportunity. I've been all over the world. I have close family and friends in 5 different continents. I speak 1 language fluently, 2 proficiently, and a whole spatter of languages at a basic level.
I love exploring. Food, music, traditions, people, languages -- you name it, it enthralls me.
PHILOSOPHY
Life is meant to be enjoyed.
If you're not enjoying it, change your course of actions.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Host and be hosted.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've jumped onto other friends' couchsurfing experiences once or twice, staying with people they originally contacted through the site. (Thanks, CA students in Budapest for your flexibility with that!) And then I got my own profile and am legit. Couchsurfed around the US, Eastern Europe. Hosted several times in Portland, Oregon, but -- for some strange reason -- no one wanted to couch surf when I was living in glamarous Warrenton, Virginia or White Sulphur Springs, Montana! :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Authors: Julian Barnes, Hemingway, Ishiguro, Roald Dahl, Joyce, Vonnegut, Kingsolver, Barthes and Derrida's philosophy on language applied to everythng. Those are some favorites, but I truly love to read just about anything. I spend too much time on goodreads.com
Music: If I had it my way, the music would never stop. Anything from Joni Mitchell's clear, sonorous voice to her late, smoky voice; from Joshua Bell's portrayal of Corigliano's score in "The Red Violin" to Bela Fleck's classical banjo; from The Beatles to the Doors to the present indie-emo-alternative beat of Portland; from Lyrics Bourne intellectual rap to Black Eyed Peas pop rap; from Morocco's Jajouka musicians to Cape Verde's Lura. I love it all.
Movies: The Coen brothers. 50s B horror movies. Movies about sharks or dinosaurs. Movies with integrity.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I visited the Eiffel Tower for the first time when I was 4. I drank tea with a Berber family in Morocco when I was 15. I spent a week lost in Berlin at age 18. I ate live octopus in Korea when I was 23. A monkey tried to steal my purse in Thailand when I was 25.
And there may have been a few others things scattered in the midst...
Teach, Learn, Share
Things I enjoy sharing: world music, literature, languages, food, wine.
Perhaps it's cliched, but it is so because it's true: an unexamined life is not worth living. No one will have the time to examine everything, but I love trying to get a sample of a lot. Teach me about anything you know; I'll listen.
