Overview
About Me
Hey there! I'm Ali, originally from Izmir, Turkey. I moved to the U.S. in 2015 and have since called various places home, finally settling in New York City in September 2020. I work in Sales and Business Development within the Pharma/Life Sciences sector.
I'm passionate about connecting with people from diverse backgrounds and sharing life experiences. Whether it's discussing art, exploring new cultures, or just having a good laugh over coffee, I'm always up for meaningful conversations.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Mainly to meet new people by hosting them, exchange stories, and get a glimpse of different cultures — and establish similar connections when I'm traveling. I believe everyone has a unique story to tell, and I’m always curious to listen, share, and learn along the way.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Artwork featured in Paris, Venice, Rio, Istanbul, NYC, Buffalo, Syracuse... and counting !!
I've been to 24/50 states in the US, goal is to hit all 50 !
Most importantly, I’ve built a life in New York City from scratch — met people from all walks of life, navigated both chaos and calm, and somehow managed to stay true to myself while striving for continuous growth. It may not sound extreme, but it’s been the most rewarding and transformative journey I’ve taken so far.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can be your part-time NYC guide — not the touristy kind, but the one who shows you places with soul. I like talking about things that matter: faith, philosophy, personal growth, and the things that shape us. I enjoy listening as much as sharing, and I’m always curious how people make sense of their own lives. If you're into Turkish culture or want to try something creative like marbling (Ebru), happy to share that too.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I’m pretty low-maintenance and happy to adapt to your space. I can share conversation if you're up for it, help out where needed, and bring a small thank-you - usually a postcard or something simple from New York. Mostly, I just try to be respectful, present, and leave things a little better than I found them.
