This field is too short to include all my missions, for the present and for the long time run. :)
Born in Russia, lived my grown-up life in Israel, studied English language and literature, passionate about learning-learning, after a year's pause back to learning - getting back gradually, with Esperanto now, soon will be back to my other languages (Bulgarian is first on the list, then Japanese again, most probably...) Lots of languages, mixture of cultures, sometimes it's disorienting and sometimes encouraging. Happy to exchange observations about living in different places.
People say that I like to talk and that I talk fast. But, paradoxically, that's because I like listening to people. I like learning about how people live and what they think about all kinds of subjects.
Now, since we are a couchsurfing family, a little bit about other family members:
Manages a freelance translation agency and writes his Phd in german Frei Universitat (at the same time o_O). His main area of interest is... business and biblical research. Uncommon? It's his passion and he loves talking about it. You are always welcome to ask.
Hmm... a very charismatic 16-year old girl. :) She is completing a barman course now. Unlike me, dislike languages, but still speaks Russian as mother tongue, and is fluent in Hebrew, English and German to a certain extent. Used to be an anime and cosplay fan, she'll be back to it some day, I suppose.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Hosting the wonderful travelers. :) Feels like we are constantly travelling without leaving the couch!
I was reading a blog of a very nice person, sometimes commenting, but it wasn't a personal acquaintance. Once he wrote that he, his wife and his son, are going for a holiday to my region. I suggested to meet, and he agreed! They stayed over for one night, we had a dinner together, talked a lot, then visited some must-go places in Jerusalem together. From that time on I realized that a miraculous thing happened - instead of having a distant acquaitatnce somewhere, we have close friends somewhere! And it makes a difference! Since then I was looking forward for an opportunity to meet distant people face-to-face, and now, upon finding this CouchSurfing community, I am really thrilled!
Language-teaching, language-learning and animation.
Along with languages, as a nice side-effect, goes meeting (in writing or in person) many wonderful people, which is also one of my interests. Since I grew up in one country and live in another, observing, thinking over and discussing cultural differences became somewhat of a hobby for me. ;)
Music, Movies, and Books
I like reading books! Even had my book-swap meetup in Berlin... For the books I've read and liked you can have a look here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/48390128-alisa-zingerman?shelf=read
