Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After travelling solo through South America, India, Vietnam and Thailand, I realised I got the most out of my experiences by connecting with local people — whether through homestays, shared meals, or social meetups.

I’ve done several homestays over the years (and one lovely experience through Couchsurfing), and I’m excited to do more. I’m planning a trip to New Zealand in April 2026 and will be looking to stay with people along the way — especially as I’ll be travelling solo and may eventually get tired of talking to myself!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I completed the W Trek in Torres del Paine, Patagonia solo in four days — accidentally adding an extra 20km when a bridge was out. I climbed to the Torres twice: once at sunset, and again at 4am, hiking through a pitch-black forest with just my head torch and (luckily) no pumas.

That week was one of the most beautiful and exhilarating experiences of my life.
