ABOUT ME
I moved to Baltimore in 2007 in order to join Teach for America. I have been living here for only two years now and am still getting to know the area, but I have found lots to love about Charm City.
I teach high school, so I have a lot of free time for travel and generally enjoying life during the summer!

Music, Movies, and Books
yes, please.
I'm open to all sorts of music, but I have a weakness for music with a good dance beat, especially Salsa and Cha Cha, but Swing is fun, too. I enjoy classic rock (The Beatles, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, The Velvet Underground) as well as the more modern (Manu Chao, Spoon, the White Stripes, Ani Difranco).
My top shelf holds Lolita, Ender's Game, Their Eyes Were Watching God, The Poisonwood Bible, The Handmaid's Tale, Rubyfruit Jungle, The Bell Jar, The Time Traveler's Wife, A Wrinkle in Time, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, The Secret Life of Bees, and The Virgin Suicides
Some of the movies I love are The Graduate, Napoleon Dynamite, le Diner de Cons (The Dinner Game), The Princess Bride, The Royal Tenenbaums, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Harold and Maude, Amelie, and Bowfinger
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the coolest experiences I've had was attending the 2009 inauguration of President Barack Obama. In addition to the ceremony itself, the size and character of the crowd were simply unbelievable.
My favorite travel memory is when I decided to take a train from Genova, Italy to the tiny town of Camogli. I had to communicate with local townspeople through a mishmash of French, Spanish, and Latin in order to find a tiny stone staircase up the mountain to the trail head I was looking for. After some amazing foccacia and prosciutto, I began a long walk along the Mediterranean Sea. In three hours the only other being I saw was a mountain goat. It was a mesmerizingly beautiful experience and ended only after I caught the last ferry to Portofino with 5 minutes to spare.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would be happy to show you the basic steps of salsa dancing, guide you through some yoga poses, or help you with your French, Latin (or English!) homework.
