I grew up in a small village of Shantou and came to Singapore at the age of 15. Despite my effort in becoming a world citizen, I realized that I'm very much influenced by the Chinese identity. I wish to explore the world and get to interact with people from different backgrounds, to cast away all stereotypes and emphasise on personal stories and authentic feelings.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have done some solo trips in the past, most of them in Couchsurfing. My family has also hosted a few CSers who visited Shantou. I met interesting peoples and became friends with some of them.

While sightseeing and trying new food could be the reasons of travelling, I do believe that interaction with locals is a fantastic way to know a place better, it also allows us to escape from the staged authenticity/constructive authenticity for the tourists.
