About Me

Redefining the term "rich" by pursuing (the unexplainably elusive but unbelievable fulfilling, pure and unadulterated) life experiences

Life is truly amazing ~ I am grateful everyday for life :) ~ Travelling, especially no strings backpacking, is the most amazing all around experience.

I just spent nearly 5 months in India, flew to Rome in Feb 2015, and have been mostly hitchhiking and visiting friends (most recently in Berlin in early Apr).

My main motivation in life is learning and growing. I am philosophical thinking, care deeply about the environment and am interested in alternative ways of living that are sustainable and community-oriented.

I am a fairly quiet guy and tend to avoid loud places such as bars and clubs. I enjoy casual conversations over a coffee, wine or beer at home (isn't that what Couchsurfing's all about?) or at a cafe.

~ Barefooted Man

I'm a nomad, ascetic, a wandering soul ~
On a fateful journey, figuring out my role ~
Seeking new experiences, near and far ~
Linked only by night sky, moon and star ~
Connecting with wonderful people and places ~
Communing with nature and open spaces ~
I will not stop, pause, stray or tire ~
In my quest to travel, share, love and inspire ~

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is quite simply the best thing ever! I host, surf, participate and sometimes create events.

I've been Couchsurfing since 2011 - hosted in Calgary, attended events, including an overnight trip into the Canadian Rockies, making and staying in houses made of snow!

I surfed through Europe for 10 months with over 30 hosts, an attended events. I surfed in India a few times.

I have a first world problem - I've got too many passions and ambitions, there's just not enough time for them all! Here are just a few: cooking, reading, documentaries, yoga, DIY, nice walks, meeting people.

Anything outdoors, to expand my brain, and to get me out of my comfort zone! Specifically? Hiking, camping, cycling, running, snowboarding, relaxing, travelling, etc.

Music, Movies & Books

"Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world, I feel like I can't take it, and my heart is going to cave in" - American Beauty (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZPf-BOnuZ0)

A Map for Saturday - a backpacker documentary, highly recommended!

Zeitgeist - if you want to be an informed citizen

Baraka and Samsara - two films illustrating the beauty in nature and culture

Cowspiracy - why you shouldn't eat meat...

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Planted trees for one month at Sadhana Forest, an ecovillage in India run by volunteers, in Jan 2015

Teach, Learn, Share

My blog has really become a part of me, and writing is something I enjoy doing for the main purpose of benefitting others through my experiences.
