About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To embrace my inner explorer and adventure all over the world!

ABOUT ME

I am a student in Environmental Science & Communications but my overall goal is to for a career in film acting. I am a very open and talkative person who loves to cook for others!

Learning about other cultures is another passion (and academic pursuit) of mine- especially as person with a multiethnic background. I'm very easygoing and am also up for a new adventure!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed twice with a friend in June 2014 for my first time visiting London and Paris. I had positive experiences both times :)

Interests

Besides culture and cooking/baking, I am into photography and filming (with basic video editing knowledge). I find history fascinating and enjoy scenery in both a natural and architectural sense. I thought about majoring in architecture but math is not my strongest subject :)

I love the beach and have always wanted to learn how to surf or sail. One day I want to try ziplining!

Music, Movies, and Books

I especially love comedies, action (kung fu!) and animated films. I do enjoy suspenseful/crime movies ("Bunny Lake is Missing" and "Rear Window" were spectacular) but the supernatural horror genre freaks me out a little too much.

I mostly read fiction and I've always wanted to write a complete novel. One of my favorite books of all-time is "The Historian" by Elizabeth Kostova and its 704 breathtaking pages.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I have done recently was climb to the roof of an abandoned building with friends at 2AM. We laid on the peak of the roof and saw the city lights. It proved to me that even seemingly dull places are ripe with adventure- you just have to look a little harder.

I also crossed the Franco-Belgian border on foot and then walked another 15+km to Ypres. The following day, I woke up in Belgium, spent the day in Germany and fell asleep in France. It was pretty surreal looking back on it!

Teach, Learn, Share

I've always wanted to learn enough of another language to become conversational- my French, Mandarin and Cantonese skills are practically nonexistent at this point D:
I'd also love to learn different physical skills like martial arts, dance or surfing. I've choreographed Chinese ribbon dancing in the past but next year, I'm enrolled in modern dance!

I love to share my cooking with people. I'm not the most skilled in cooking meat outside a commercial kitchen but I love baking vegan and creating fusion recipes. Ever had avocado cornbread or thai chicken crêpes?
:)

Other things I can teach besides cooking
- Chinese ribbon dancing
- Beijing Opera Stage Combat (spear only)
- Basics of Final Cut Pro X
- Nail art design
- Knitting
- Basic color guard flag tricks
