To fall in love with this world and the people in it.
23. Film buff, writer
Gun for hire
LA born NYC gone Franco-Brazilian jetsetter. Languages, food, books, coffee, drinking something (probably) unhealthy, getting new passport stamps, ya know, I like to have a good time. Watching people take selfies is probably one of my favorite pastimes ever. Besides wandering around the Met and writing.
Picasso and Hemingway turn me on. Shoot first, ask questions later.
Live and let live. I feel that everything that happens to us or that we encounter in our life, good or bad, should always be used to help us grow as people. As long as we learn something from anything, we can always look forward to what tomorrow brings.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm in love with the world around me and the people in it. Mark Twain once wrote that the two most important days of your life are the day you are born and the day you figure out why. I believe I've figured out why.
I was put here under the stars and clouds and above the earth and the ground below to marvel at the world, fall in love with it and it's people, and write about it. That is my purpose. I am a writer. I was made to love.
I couchsurfed once when I first moved to New York with Shawn Guffey and had a blast. It was my first and only experience and I could not have had a better introduction to the city. Someday soon I would love to pay that forward.
Films, television, books, languages, food, cultures, music, art...I like intimately connecting with people from everywhere because it helps me grow as a person.
Music, Movies, and Books
Books: A Series of Unfortunate Events, Harry Potter, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Looking for Alaska, The Fault in our Stars, The Rules of Attraction, The Catcher in the Rye, Brave New World, As I Lay Dying, Spoon River Anthology, Sherlock Holmes, Dante and Aristotle Discover the Secrets of the Universe, Anything written by Hemingway or Fitzgerald or Gertrude Stein. I'm big on the 1920's, the "Lost Generation", so Romantics are the ones that truly unstitch me. Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, Donna Tartt. The list goes on.
Music: The Strokes, Vampire Weekend, Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey, Phantom Planet, Matt and Kim, The Beatles, The Cure, The Smiths, John Mayer, and I love movie soundtracks. Lorde is my spirit animal.
Films: The Godfather, Chinatown, Halloween, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Batman Returns, Chocolat, Requiem for a Dream, Harry Potter 5-8, Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, (500) Days of Summer, Mean Girls, The Invasion, I, Robot, Psycho, Rope, among others.
Television: Fringe, Desperate Housewives, Nip/Tuck, The X-Files, Phineas and Ferb, Lost, Jericho, Gossip Girl, Spongebob, Angry Beavers, etc...
As a note, there are to many to mention. I have a very wide and eclectic taste of films, books and music.
