HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Mar 2021 update
I have a tiny one bedroom place with my wife in the city of Honolulu. We are about a 1.5 miles from Whole Foods and 2 miles from the ocean. With current events, not hosting at the moment. But can answer some questions about the islands.

Jan 2023 update
We live in a house in the city of Honolulu, neighborhood called Maikiki. We have extra room on the main level and separate entrance room downstairs with bathroom and shower.

Before you ask for a couch, know that:
I live in a highly desirable part of Kauai and maybe even the whole state. i'm not a youth hostel, a cheap hotel, not a bed and breakfast. So please tell me something about yourself that you think I might find interesting and makes you unique (since you did read my profile, right? and I left plenty of clues) and includes these three words in your request, mango fish tacos, so I know you really read my profile.

Update 2023: I'm in Honolulu, Oahu now. But still have connections with Big Island and Kauai.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted while I lived on Big Island and here on Kauai. While traveling in New Zealand, I met some fellow travelers via CS and couch surfed with a few. Met my wife on CS via the forum, she was looking for people to hike with.

what really grabs my attention than any tangible thing are people's stories. i like to hear how people have achieved something they set their mind to despite some kinda obstacle or hardship. i like how ideas take off into something that works. its inspiring...

i like to see people have goals and work towards them. we all have a purpose on this earth. the Creator would be glad if we found Him and did what we're supposed to do

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

last crazy thing i did was let a hitchhiker borrow my car for the weekend as i drove myself to the airport.

i'm not that amazing. In 2012, a friend decided to bicycle across the US in 40 days and so I decided to drive across the country in 6 weeks. it was fun.

2023: last minute (3 days notice) sailing trip from Colombia to Key West, Florida on friends boat. Caught ahi tuna and I cooked up some seared ahi tacos. We hit up the islands of Providencia, San Andres, and Isla Mujeres (next to Cancun Mexico). Somehow I didn't get sick over the 10 days trip. Had to sail "dark" at night to avoid pirates.
