About Me

Hey! I'm new here! I'm from Chile, and about to start postgrad studies in math (hopefully in Toulouse).
I love music (studied electric guitar for a while), movies, books, a few sports and cooking (although I don't know how to prepare many specific dishes, usually just impro :D ), and science for sure. I like to walk through the cities I visit an avoid endless groups of tourists every time I can, visit a few local bars and look for secret corners that keep the essence of the place.
At this moment I'm not hosting because I'm in a research trip in France (Nancy now and in June i'll move to Toulouse for a month). I'm very interested in getting to know as much as I can of French culture and language. I'm thinking about visiting Metz, Strasbourg, and Paris in May. Not sure yet where I'll go near Toulouse, any recommendations?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The idea sounds really great! staying in a hotel or in a hostel is too touristic for my taste and doesn't help to know the real place... in couchsurfing you have the chance to "almost be" a local or have the "local experience", which takes a lot of time otherwise...
Meeting people from everywhere is quite nice, in Chile I have plenty of friends from other countries! it has been a great experience and I hope CS helps me to enhance it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like different kinds of music: several rock/prog-metal bands, a bit of jazz, some classical, a few world music bands, the music of several my friends (some chilean musicians are fantastic!), latin american music (a lot of creativity and ethnic roots), the list goes on and on...

There are several films as well, if i have to pick a few i would say: the clockwork orange, Nolan’s batman trilogy, fight club, star wars (even the new ones), lord of the ring + hobbit, a beautiful mind, mr nobody, toy story, delicatessen, v for vendetta, yes man (it may sound silly but it changed me a bit). Notable mentions for el secreto de sus ojos and relatos salvajes (to name some in spanish and because Darin is a great actor).
My favorite series are House M.D, Sherlock, the big bang theory, breaking bad and how i met you mother (i’m currently avoiding more series because i get obsessed with them quickly).

Nietzsche is my all time fav, currently i’m reading “a universe from nothing” by Lawrence Krauss (an american physicists) very very interesting!

Teach, Learn, Share

Culture and philosophical views are the things that interesting me the most, language also... let’s talk about everything and share a great time, life’s wasted if we do not enjoy it

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would love to share a little about chilean "culture", I can help you with spanish. I've studied music for a short period of time, so I can provide simple tricks about harmony and musical theory and some interesting and fun facts about physics and/or math (yes! there are funny things in math... or at least beautiful things, which are as good as funny things ) ... all of those if you are interested of course... if you are not, then we can share a drink and/or a meal and laugh about the funny/silly things we all have in our lives :P
