I am working with Peace Corps in rural Amhara, Ethiopia about 70k from Bahir Dar. I am able and happy to host anyone who doesn't mind dirt roads and a two hour bus ride! :) it is extremely beautiful and relaxed here. If you need advice about Bahir Dar or the area, feel free to message me.
to meet as many amazing people as possible before my time runs out!
I'm pretty low key- laid back and quiet sometimes, but very happy. I like to travel and be outside, need the sunshine, and love love love to meet new people.
"We don't see things as they are; we see things as we are."
I don't know if I have a personal philosophy. I am so lucky, because I meet so many wonderful people and have such a full, amazing life. I just like to run around the world and be open to anything, while learning as much as I can.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Kenya June '12 - great experience, and made one of the favorite friends I've ever had. :)
Japan December '12 - I only a few days with CS hosts, but the two I got to see were GREAT, and I can't wait to go back to that country.
Egypt June '13 - probably one of the best days ever, thanks to Amgad! Definitely going back to see way more of that city and be with the people. Best CS experience yet!
Uganda June '13 - Kampala is THE coolest city, and I had such a great time with Marvin. Thanks for hosting me!
Tanzania January '14
I love to meet new people, especially by accident or chance. I love to read, take photographs, and have big discussions with friends. I spend as much time as I can moving around and seeing new things. I love museums, parks, lakes, book stores, downtown areas in general, and driving anywhere. I'm usually up for anything, including doing very little, and in that way my life is both full of adventures and very, very relaxed.
Music, Movies, and Books
Generally, I dig anything released before 1979, classical, reggae, 90's rock, modern indie-folk stuff, lyrically sound rap music, soul, blues, and the list goes on.
I don't watch that many movies, but my top five are: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Almost Famous, V for Vendetta, What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, and LA Confidential. I also love musicals, in the theatre and the film versions.
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is also my favourite book. I read too much nonfiction to be healthy, but I love short stories, books about awesome women, any poetry I can get my hands on.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've seen the sunrise most everywhere I've been - it's one of those things that makes me feel extremely important and very tiny at the same time.
I also have somehow managed to meet wonderful people everywhere I go, and stay in touch with them. I can't describe how lucky this is, but I am thankful.
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn everything! About people and culture, and individuality. I am interested in what makes people specific, and different, as well as what unites us. I am practicing patience and humility. These you always learn from experiencing others.
I'd love to share my genuine adoration and amazement for the way things are, as I see them.
