About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Getting caught up in the next great adventure (and seeing if I can't drag some friends along for the ride too)!

ABOUT ME

It would be so much better to tell you over a good drink and a delicious meal in a favorite pub or cantina, but sans that:

I am an enthusiastic participant in this dance called life. I like to sup a cup, eat a grand meal, see vivid live performances, stand of top of mountains while releasing barbaric yalps, travel the world, talk to a stranger until they no longer are, help a friend in need, learn something new, laugh heartily, and basically try to take more than my fair share of fun and experience.

I am from Indiana but have been a couple of places (not enough!). I have an odd profession that keeps me always learning. I do field biology work and am trying to get into the wildland fire fighting scene. Although I grew up in the hills of southern Indiana (surprisingly yes, Indiana has more than corn fields and nascar if you know where to look), I have fallen in love the big wide open of places in the West. So I am constantly taking work or pilgrimages west of the Mississippi to get my big sky fix!

PHILOSOPHY

“In my walks, every man I meet is my superior in some way, and in that I learn from him.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would like to meet great new folks as I surf the world! Exchange ideas and learn what I can't from where I am now!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just signed up at the behest of a friend. I have been couch surfing unofficially for years, but I look forward to meeting a great new community of people. I love when people have a lot of hometown pride and like to share the little secret gems of a spot on the map I don't know much about.

Interests

Just about anything under the sun can be interesting if the story is told right. I love trying new food and drink. I am an avid outdoor recreation guy: climbing, hiking, backpacking, scuba, kayaking, etc..... I play guitar and listen to and watch a lot of music. Learning, reading, or talking over a cup of good coffee or a strong batch of tea is a great way to spend an afternoon as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all type of music. Live music is great. Hearing that new thing for the first time can be magical. Americana to metal, jazz to rock en Espanol, funk to folk, there is always something I can groove along with.

Been really stoked about travel lit, history, sci-fi, fantasy, steampunk, and science journalism right now.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been caught in a bioluminescent cloud of sea creatures that turned inky black into a galaxy of color.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a field biologist and proud of my work. I might be able to help someone understand how the natural world works or how to find that next great camping spot.
