ABOUT ME

I grew up next to Washington DC, and the DC area will always be home. But, I love language learning, and felt a lot of regret that I was never very successful in Spanish or German in school, despite studying both for many years.

Now, I've been living in the Czech Republic for more than two years, and my approach to language study has changed completely. Czech language is my love, and I can now speak it confidently, though I still have some studying to do before I could call myself fluent.

A close friend of mine who struggled to build himself up here right along with me now has a small but successful film production company, which has taken us this year on wild little projects to more and more distant and exotic locations, such as Transylvania, Istanbul, Kazakhstan, and now, Dubai. But, these passions and interests of mine don't pay well (yet), and so I think couch surfing could be a wonderful exciting way to travel affordably, and make great connections along the way. I love to travel, but following tourist maps and taking pictures of monuments can't compare with building great connections with new friends in foreign places.

PHILOSOPHY

It's difficult to express, there's a certain type of mindset that I just really cherish, but I can't put it on paper really (internet paper?), though I know it when I see it.

Soon, I'm hoping to get my apt. into a shape where I could start doing some hosting of my own!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I only have vicarious experience, good friends have told me of the positive experiences they had across North America and in Germany, and I'm looking forward to some of those experiences myself :)

Interests

Czech, language in general, reading the classics (I'm way behind!), going to new places, making good friends, and drinking with the good friends I've got.

Music, Movies, and Books

I loooved War & Peace, now I'm reading a biography of Einstein that's a little slow, but encouraging, it's nice to relate to the tumultuous period of someone's life when you know how successful and inspirational they turn out to be.
