ABOUT ME

Friends would call me a good listener with good one-liners. I am quiet, but I enjoy being in the throws of a good crowd. I always have something ready to be put in the oven or on the stove, and I love it when people feel at home. I love feeling at home in unexpected places, which is what makes traveling so meaningful to me!

Interests

I am eager to learn about the history of places and communities and food. I write, collect oral histories, and photograph my travels. I enjoy writing and blogging, a good cup of coffee, and museums. I am always thinking about what to cook or bake, and above all, I enjoy cooking for others. As a student of geography, the study of "earth as home," I search for stories of people and their favorite places.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was most recently awestruck when I was interviewing a family of first and second generation immigrants from Oaxaca. The family invited me into their home, wouldn't let me leave without a home-cooked meal, and were proud to share their stories with me, in both English and Spanish. I was awestruck when the seven year old translated my questions into Spanish for her elderly grandmother. Friendships were formed and hearts were shared that afternoon!
