About Me

I currently work as a Houseparent at a Residential Treatment Program for teens. My job is basically to live life with the kids, process through problems and issues as they come up, help teach them life skills, and develop relationships with them (my favorite part).

I am passionate about helping those who come from broken families and lives. For serving those who have little. Prior to my job now, I got an incredible opportunity to live and work in Haiti for a year! That experience deepened my passion and opened my eyes to so many new perspectives!!

I LOVE music! I believe that music plays a powerful role in our lives! My playlist spans basically every genre. I do have a strong tug towards country music (because it is what I grew up on). I play piano, guitar, violin, and the Appalachian dulcimer. I love being able to pick up instruments and try to figure out how to play them.

I am also a huge adventurer. I love going "off-grid" and enjoying nature. I enjoy being challenged, trying new things, and experiencing different cultures.

Interests

I love a great adventure, traveling, trying new things, hiking, running, really anything outdoors. I have a love for cultures and learning.

Music, Movies, and Books

I grew up with country music, so I am slightly partial to classic country. But I love all kinds and I am always looking for more great music!! I am a wimp when it comes to scary or sci-fi movies. I like comedy, real-to-life, musicals, and even a few sappy ones now and then.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have had the opportunity to do many awesome things in my life! I think the one that tops all, however insignificant it might seem, was the times I spent with the kids in the Peds ward at a hospital in Haiti. I lived on a hospital campus, and many evenings, I would take my guitar, coloring books/crayons, or a ball and spend time with the kids. It was also what opened the pathway to music therapy!
