Hey hey! :) I'm Alysson, originally from the Philippines, but now I call this Little Red Dot home. Without further ado, here are some things that might be of interest:

I've been living a particularly boring life in the last five years, all I knew was work, work, and more work. Which is why this year I decided that I will change that, and see the wonders that our beautiful Mother Earth has to offer. I love discovering new places, and while I haven't really been able to try and experience what it's like to really live in another country (besides the Philippines and Singapore that is), I absolutely love learning about different cultures and meeting people from around the globe.

Despite having grown up in metropolitan areas, my heart and soul absolutely love being in natural places like mountains, forests, the beach, ocean, rivers, waterfalls, well you get the gist. On my bucket list though are to one-day see canyons, glaciers, valleys, and most especially snow (snow angel!!!). I’m always down for a spontaneous adventure.

Overall, I am a very smiley, happy, and easy-going person with a pocketful of sunshine. ☀️

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've known about CS for a while, but only recently joined it after a friend from Canada shared some great stories about his experience here, so here I am!

I love to interact with people and just be able to share and talk about life experiences and knowledge with people from all over the world. I think there is something very special about experiencing a new place from the eyes of a local, which is why I joined CS, to be able to experience that.

Music, Movies, and Books

I honestly enjoy all kinds of music. The music I listen to is highly dependent on the mood I am in and the people that I'm with. I have a special place in my heart for The Beatles and Queen. I love being introduced to new bands/ genres, regardless of the language.

I grew up as a LOTR girl, I never watched Harry Potter. I will watch anything just about anything under the sun, with the biggest exemption for horror movies. Never watched one, and never will. I also enjoy good light-hearted shows and any type of documentaries.

I love a good mystery novel. Nothing quite excites me than trying to solve a mystery in a book and then reading on till the end to see if I was anywhere near close to solving it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Growing up, I was exposed to different cultures. I am very open-minded and I absolutely enjoy meeting people. I enjoy having conversations on just about anything, to the environment, music, history, societal norms, broccoli and my greatest love, ice cream. I really enjoy learning about things that I don't know, and I believe that knowledge of any kind is something that we both can give and take from one another. A little bonus, I can teach you a little bit of self-defense too! ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

To my future hosts, I would be happy with just a simple place to stay. I love to cook, and having been exposed to numerous cultures growing up, I know quite a fair bit of dishes from different cuisines that I would gladly share with you. (Filipino, Chinese, Indian, Malay, Korean, Mexican with a twist)

I am currently unable to host because of my living situation, but I would love to show you around the city, a new side to the metropolitan that goes beyond that of a guide book, to places that I feel best showcases what my 'home' has to offer.
