I'm a sculptor, writer, and lifeguard instructor traveling ccw around the country with my brother. I believe in taking it easy, and not rushing -- the world isn't going anywhere (but we are)! Expect people to be good, and they will be more than not. I tend to focus more on treating other people well than getting things done for myself, but I'm getting there. Write, draw, read, and dream everyday. Mistakes are great and only become failures when we don't learn from them.

A disc in my back slipped just a month before hitting the road, making my left leg feel as if it was being torn from my hip with any bend. But, the Adirondacks were our first stop, and we sought to conquer at least 3 peaks before leaving. Mt. Baker was a small peak to start; a warm up day-hike. Then we entered the wilderness for a 2-day excursion. We traversed Avalanche Pass to reach the southside of Mt. Colden the first day, hiking with a 40lb pack, but we found a lean-to by night. In the morning, we hiked Colden. Red markers led us to the peak [red means death]. The trail ran over swathes of slippery rock and up ladders, all at a high grade. I was desperate for my pre-injury agility. Still, we reached the peak-- completely shrouded in cloud. Wind warped water droplets into slivers, striking my face. Pain was expected on this journey; there was no turning around and no regrets. It paid off, as atop Mt. Colden, the blanket of clouds I stood within parted for a single minute, letting me view the vibrant fall colors around Lake Colden and the Algonquin, all at least 3000ft below me. After that minute the clouds rolled in, and I trudged on.
