About Me

I teach high school history and current issues. Even when my students are a challenge, I love what I do because I love thinking about "the other side" of an issue or topic. My own narrative (blah boring life story) has made me strive to be as accepting as I can to other ideas. I'm polite to a fault (and always apologizing) but I love to laugh and spend time with friends. I'm also kind of bookish and academic (which is suddenly "in" now --right?).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Honestly, Couchsurfing scares me. I'm on this website because I want to experience travel with someone who loves their home. Passion, a zest for life, is a wonderful geeky thing! I figure if I'm going to take the leap to travel, I might as well really step out of my comfort zone into something that seems pretty awesome.

Interests

I love my dogs and my husband and my job (that last one is *most* days). I love learning about languages (even if I can't speak them), cooking, making costumes, Disney movies, and the tv show "Friends". I read as though I need it to live.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like musicals and pop music.

My favorite movies are 10th Kingdom, Stardust, Princess Bride, The Little Mermaid, The Illusionist, Rent, National Treasure, Goonies,

I loved getting my degrees in history, so I'll talk your ear off about that, if you'd like, but most books I read now are just for fun. Some of my favorites include Jane Eyre, Enchantment, and The Scorpio Races.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was much younger, I hiked all the way to the bottom of the Grand Canyon with my family. I'm not much of a hiker, but I'd love to do that again!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook pumpkin pie, potato soup, or cheese biscuits. I can also tell you more than you'd ever want to know about Disney. I can also offer local goodies related to Georgia, USA, like Coca-Cola (if that's your interest). I promise to help out in any way I can and be quiet if you need quiet.

Countries I’ve Visited

Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Jamaica, Nicaragua

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
