About Me

Hi, I’m Amanda!

I’m a 31-year-old young lady living between Mombasa and Taveta, though I'm mostly based in Taveta—the rural end of Taita Taveta, right at the border between Kenya and Tanzania. I live a simple, clean, and independent-joyful life and work in the health department.
I love touring and traveling—especially solo and I enjoy socializing, making new friends and learning about different cultures. I'm always happy to host fellow travelers and when possible, show you around beautiful local spots like Lake Challa, Lake Jipe and some of the famous hills and hiking areas within the coastal region, not forgetting the Indian Ocean 🌊.
I may not always be available to guide you around, but I’ll be glad to share my space, some local insights and a local meal if we’re both free in the evening.

🏡 House Rules

Please keep the space clean and tidy.
Water, soap, and toothpaste (Colgate) are always available.
The coastal region can be very hot, so staying hydrated is important!
Here, we use water or toiletries when going to the toilet—feel free to ask if you're unsure.
Just relax and feel at home.

Looking forward to connecting with amazing surfers and sharing good stories and experiences. Karibu Taveta! Kenya 🇰🇪.🌞

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined Couchsurfing because I love meeting new people, learning about different cultures and sharing experiences with travelers from around the world. It’s not just about a place to sleep—it’s about making real connections, hearing different life stories and creating memories through cultural exchange.

As someone who enjoys travelling 🧳, I know how important it is to find kind, welcoming people along the journey. Whether I’m hosting or surfing, I hope to build friendships, share local tips and show others the beauty of my home in Taita-taveta, Mombasa and beyond.

Interests

All those interests are part of life therapy 🤗.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy listening to different types of music depending on the mood—sometimes soft and relaxing, sometimes upbeat and fun. I love discovering local sounds and traditional music from different cultures too.

When it comes to books....naaaa, not good in books 📚😬.

For movies, I enjoy a good mix—dramas, comedies, and adventure films. I also like watching movies based on true stories and real life documentaries or ones that take me to new places through the screen.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things I’ve done is traveling across over 15 African countries by road—all without owning a car! I've used public service vehicles matatu, tuktuk, motorcycle, buses, trains ferries in Mombasa and fast ferries in Zanzibar, and even flights when needed. It’s been a wild and beautiful adventure.

I once pitched and unpitched a tent for 21 days straight while moving across different countries, and even tried to sleep in elephant territory in Botswana (honestly, I couldn’t sleep at all 😅).

Each journey has taught me something new, and I’ve discovered that every country has its own unique culture, rhythm, and way of life. I’ve always loved road trips—and that spirit is still going strong 🔝

What I Can Share with Hosts

Great conversations and inspiring stories from my road trips across Africa.
A taste of Kenyan culture, and I’d be happy to cook a simple local dish if you’re open to it.
Help around the house—I clean up after myself and always respect your space and time.
I can teach you a few fun phrases in Kiswahili, or share travel tips around East Africa.
Most of all, I bring good energy, an open mind, and a love for connecting with new people.
Whether we have deep conversations or just share a quiet meal, I’m always grateful for the experience and happy to leave positive memories behind. 💫
