Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I find that the best way to see a place is through the eyes of the people who live there. It gets boring always going on tours and eating at the same tourist places and seeing the same junk for sale. Much better to find the hidden corners of the world... the places where life happens.

Anyone can be a tourist. I like to be a traveler.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have very eclectic tastes in entertainment. It would be easier to list the things I'm not really into.

I'm not really into heavy metal music. Everything else is cool so long as it doesn't denigrate anyone or anything.

I like pretty much all genre of movie, including classics, samurai, animation, etc. I don't really like horror movies and will not watch them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I packed what I could, sold the rest, and moved halfway around the world about 10 years ago. It seems only yesterday sometimes and I often forget how very novel the idea is. I live in a country full of expats so we're all in the same boat, even if we don't have the same plans and intentions.

I love to help people with their English communication skills. I can teach you how to make an American or Emirati breakfast and discuss with you the rich culture of the UAE... which is truly a rags-to-riches story.

I love my current home, the UAE, and I'd love to share with you information about the culture, people, and land that is so full of mysteries.

I'm also a pretty good cook of traditional UAE dishes as well as American food. I make a really good hamburger...
