I am an unemployed grad student in Portland, OR. I have one cat named Portia, who loves attention but doesn't like dogs. I'm connected to a lot of social media, but under a different name for personal reasons. I'm a Sci-Fi/Fantasy geek who loves to cook and make things, but most of my stuff is in storage right now. I'll eat nearly anything, but have to keep foods gluten-free and little-to-no soy. They both make me sick. Portia is a quiet, goofy indoor-only DLH Dilute Tortie senior (around 11 years old). I do have a back injury, so sometimes I'm in a fair amount of pain, but most days are okay.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I was living in my own place near downtown, but recently had a quasi-eviction (As long as I was out by X date, the eviction isn't on my record, so it'll be easier to get a new place once I have work) and am now staying with one friend for 2 weeks. Around mid-March, I'll need to find another place while I'm scrambling to find work and get my life back together.
Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to nearly every kind of music. You name it, I probably have at least one CD of it. Not much into rap or speed metal. Movies: Favorite movie of all time is Buckaroo Banzai from 1984. I also love Labyrinth, Princess Bride, Ever After, Galaxy Quest, Independence Day, etc... Most of my book collection, while in storage, is predominately Science Fiction & Fantasy, with some non-fic and non-genre fiction as well. I also have a few antiquarian books. Not worth much, but I like them anyway.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
I'm a writer with a small press and have published three of my own books and working on collecting stories for an anthology.
What I Can Share With Hosts
Cooking ideas, pet sitting, organizing help, some cleaning (due to injuries, some cleaning is difficult for me.)
