About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to learn.

ABOUT ME

Detroit native/Grand Rapids transplant. I grew up halfway between Detroit and Ann Arbor, and I moved to Holland, MI for college. I now live in downtown Grand Rapids, where I teach elementary students.

PHILOSOPHY

I am passionate about reading and cooking, and I love sharing these things with others, especially the children I teach. I love exploring new places, and I love sharing my home and my favorite places with others.

We are meant to travel. We have so many means to do so. While it's great to grow roots in a place, I also think it's a shame when we don't take the opportunity to learn more about our world.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love to travel, and I hope to find companions around the world that I can stay with and explore new cities with. I hope to provide a warm home, a warm shower, a good meal, and possibly new adventures with any travelers that may come my way.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am a CS newbie! I've hosted a number of friends, and I have slept on a number of friends' couches and floors, but I am new to the world of hosting traveling strangers. I am open to and excited about the experience.

Interests

cooking, baking, biking, knitting, crafting, hiking, backpacking, traveling, food, breakfast, reading, conversation, coffee, beer, astronomy, bar trivia.

Music, Movies & Books

movies: moonrise kingdom, the breakfast club, love actually, lord of the rings, amelie
music: bon iver, stars, milo greene
books: let the great world spin, extremely loud and incredibly close, adventure nonfiction, harry potter

One Amazing Thing I've Done

India. I spent five weeks traveling around thirteen cities in India in 2011. Each city was incredibly unique, and each was filled with it's own beauty and people worth learning from.

The view from the top of Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The Olympic Mountains, on a sunny Seattle day, when they decide to show themselves on the horizon.

Northern Michigan.
