About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To change the world through theater...at least my corner of the world.

ABOUT ME

Currently I work at a museum in the volunteer department where I have the pleasure of constantly meeting new and interesting people. Outside of work I stage manage for theatre and coordinate community-based theatre programs. I love to travel and am constantly seeking to learn new things. My ideal house is one with a revolving door for guests so as to gain the most from life by learning from other people's experiences.

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live. Anything is worth teaching where even only one person learns from that lesson.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In Australia I did a lot of staying in hostels. In Cameroon, West Africa I stayed with a host family for one month. And of course, I have done plenty of couchsurfing at various friends' houses. Most recently I visited San Francisco and did some couch surfing with friends and families of friends for about two weeks. The couchsurfing was just as important a reason for my visit as all of the sights we saw. I have also been a couch host for friends in the past. In several places, I have had the good fortune to be a frequent host of friends and friends-of-friends looking for a place to crash for a few nights.

Interests

Theater, reading, camping, kayaking, hiking, white water rafting, dancing, cats, tea.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Eclectic - I grew up on 80's and classic rock and still have a fondness for this music. In recent years I have grown to love many different styles of music including celtic, celtic rock, punk rock, folk, blue grass, indie, Bollywood, alternative rock, Arabic, African, and many others I'm sure.

Books: I like all kinds of books from history to mythology, fairy tales to fantasy/Sci-Fi. Lately I have found a love for audio books which allows me to continue to fuel my love for books and stories while keeping up with my constantly busy life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While still a sophomore in college I raised enough money to send myself to Cameroon to learn Theatre for Development from my amazing host Dr. Emelda Samba and her colleagues. It was an amazing trip which opened my eyes in ways I still can't fully fathom and which continue to inspire and guide me.

Teach, Learn, Share

What I have to share or teach is my passion for using the arts for social justice. When I get going on this I could talk for days, and listen for hours as well.

I do not have anything in particular that I seek to learn from the people I interact with from day to day. I try to just be open to any lesson I might glean from others' experiences.
