About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learning to be myself, wherever it takes me.

ABOUT ME

I'm a pretty mellow person most of the time. I think life is meant to be enjoyed and I try not to take myself too seriously. I'm an introvert who loves to learn about other people and cultures.

PHILOSOPHY

Live with joy and everything else will follow. There is still so much to learn.
I believe that life is meant to be enjoyed every day and happiness should be shared.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't hosted yet, though I'm willing to! I can host travelers, show you around town, and cook.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All couchsurfing experiences I've had have either been with my own family or with my husband's family in Mexico.

Interests

I love books...I read just about everything I can get my hands on, though fantasy is my favorite. I write stories and poems in my free time. I also knit, spin, paint, and embroider. I love to hike and explore outdoors, and lately I've been trying to learn more about herbal medicine. I am attempting to learn Spanish at the moment. I'm very lucky because my husband's first language is Spanish and he makes a very good tutor.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite tv shows are: Game Of Thrones, iZombie, and The Walking Dead. I enjoy movies like Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, The Secret Lives of Walter Mitty (old and new versions), and A Bag Of Hammers.
I have more favorite books than I have room here...recent favorites are Slaughterhouse-Five, The Last Unicorn, and Gods Of Gotham. If you're really curious, you can find my books here: http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/4039480-amanda
I love music by Mumford and Sons, Tool, Movits, Tori Amos, Led Zeppelin, Alice in Chains, Pink Floyd, and just about anything else.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'll never forget watching whales in Trinidad, California. They were very close to the shore, and we just stood and watched the magnificent mammals for over an hour. Every time they rose halfway out of the water, I could see the barnacles clinging to them. That is by far one of my favorite memories.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can knit, spin, make jam and cook good food, and also know a little about foraging wild food in the western US.

I have a very curious mind and love to learn new skills. I would love to learn anything from wilderness survival to blacksmithing to making my own clothing. Knowledge is never wasted!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a good cook and love to help in the kitchen! I can teach some craft skills (knitting, beginning spinning, etc.). I'm always willing to pitch in with chores. My husband is a very good fixer-upper.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Mexico, Poland, Slovakia, United States
