About Me

ABOUT ME

I am very intelligent, but very shy which sometimes translates into social awkwardness. I am compassionate, but reserved, and very good at seeing multiple sides of an issue. I am outspoken and confident in my opinions, but always willing to learn. I sometimes appear argumentative, though I don't mean to be, I'm mostly trying to understand the how and why behind other people's thinking. I'm incurably curious about the world, the people in it, and their thoughts and beliefs.

Interests

I am a born philosopher. I enjoy and partake, to some degree, of all the arts, from writing to painting; except singing which I only do when I'm sure no one can hear. I love to read, anything I can get my hands on. I love to learn new things, facts, skills, folklore, I soak it all up like a sponge. I love to learn about history and culture from all parts of the world, but especially mythology and philosophy. I'm a big animal lover, primarily dogs and horses, but I never turn from a chance to pet and care for any critter I come across.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skydiving- a bird's eye view of the world and the ground was so far away that there was no fear of ever hitting it. It felt like I could fall forever; thank goodness the guy with the parachute had his eye on our survival, because I had totally forgotten that part!

Snorkeling in Hawaii- I had never seen water so clear or so rich with life. The highlight of that first dip was the *enormous* sea turtle eating something off a rock, so close to me that I could see the power in his neck and feel the vibrations of each strike.

When my brother died in a car accident, it was not the good kind of awestruck, but death rarely is. My whole world, my life, and everything I had ever believed was all destroyed. I had never come up against a power that could make me feel so small and lost; I am still struggling to rediscover what, if anything, is left of the person I was before and how the person I am now is going to carry on with the unrelenting fear that I will lose someone else.
