I think it is a very good way to meet nice people and visit a place thanks to the advices the host may give. Moreover, it seems much more interesting to me to have the point of view of someone who actually live in the city rather than just follow the tourists' flow.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Taking a gap semester and leaving to travel alone in South America, probably the best decision of my life.
Living one month in a barn in the Chilean forest with 50 other volunteers, without electricity nor hot water.
Volunteering to help Peru to recover after the terrible flood they had.
