About Me
[Friendly reminder that CouchSurfing isn't Tinder to me.]
Hello !
My name is Amandine (but I prefer when people call me Rose, my second name). I'm an 19-years-old Communication Student who lives in France.
I've never travelled before my 18 (England twice in school doesn't really count) but now, it's time to change. I now want to discover the world and particularly cultures and languages. My native language is French but I do work my English a lot to be utmost fluent. I have to admit that I'm not that much talented with Spanish but I promise that I'm trying my best. I also started to learn Korean, Japanese and American Sign of Language a few months ago so I forgot a little bit but I'm always ready to learn your language.
In 2017, I passed my Baccalauréat in France and I chose to be in the Literary section because I always loved to read (I read EVERYTHING except Emile Zola, "Thérèse Raquin" was enough) but I also chose it because, as said before, I love learning new languages. I followed "Extensive English" and "English Litterature" courses during 2 years when I was in Lycée (French system) and I learned a lot! Now, I study Communication and later, I would like to work as a project manager. Honestly, if I could do this at the same time, I would follow Psychology courses, not necessarily to have the diploma but to learn more about this topic.
I have a lot of interests. In fact, people describe me -so do I- as an hyperactive person 'cause I like to move a lot. I like sport : I practiced horse-riding and dance for 10 years, I also played theatre for a year and now, since the beginning of 2018, I go to the gym (and not only to run). Less physically, I am passionate about photography. My mom was a photographer in the days of silver, before digital photography and now, she's my teacher. I prefer portraits but I do work also on macro photography. I like the piano a lot and I wish I could be a good player. My favourite piano musician is Ludovico Einaudi. I like music in general and I listen to a lot of different artists. I like to draw even if I didn't for months or a year now. I like art and I go to the museum and expositions a lot.
I am a curious woman, I like to know more about people and I always like listening to them whether friend or not. Be sure that if you like to talk, I'll listen to you.
I'm a joyful and humorous person, I love life and I think it worth enjoy it !
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing is a way to step out our comfort zone. We are used to live in our room, in our house or appartement with our habits, in our town and, often, when we leave, for holidays as an exemple, we choose hotels but all we do is establish an another "home" in another place. We don't take the "risk" to REALLY discover the place we travel to and I think it's too bad. I want to change that, I want to discover the world through its inhabitants, learn different cultures, different languages. I want to feel like I live in every places I'm going to. I don't want to feel like a tourist.
Couchsurfing allows people to meet each other and I think this is precious 'cause I have this impression that we are losing human contact as people only talks through social networks. Let's move and meet each other, let's share our story, our facts, our experience, our hopes and dreams. Maybe is it a bit too philosophical but I take the risk to be.
I want to discover the world and I hope you'll take part of this adventure ♥

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a LOT of music so obviously, I can't choose only one song or artist but I like different kinds of music such as classic (piano or violin), pop, rock, hip-hop, French and American rap, reggae, electro, etc.
I also love cinema but I don't think I have a big cinematography culture and it's a shame, yeah, I admit it so maybe if you have some references, it would be a pleasure to extend my list of viewed movies/series. Up to now, I really like the movies "Slumdog Millionaire" and "The Devil Wears Prada". Concerning series, I LOVE "Sherlock" (with Benedict Cumberbatch), "Grey's Anatomy", "How To Get Away With Murder" and "The Simpsons" (yeah, I'll always be that childish but I grew up with those yellow heads) I can watch a lot of different type of movies but I admit I'm afraid of horror movies....
As I said, I love books and I've read many many many. I only read in French. Sometimes, I read modern literature such as thriller, sometimes it's more classical like theatre, poetry or novel. I discovered Jussi Adler-Olsen three years ago and his thrillers are amazing !! Concerning classical literature, I read Victor Hugo, Shakespeare (quite hard), Ionesco, Camus, Balzac and other (but in fact, I don't want to look at all my books to list the names -oops) If you like talking about literacy : here I am
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm 19 but doesn't mean I have no experience, watch me ;)
- In 2018, I participated in a national photography challenge between all the IUTs (it's a type of school in French and it means "University Institute of Technology") and I finished 2nd and 3rd with two of my pictures on the podium.
- I was Web Manager of my University Promotion's association
- I worked for a DJ for two months in Paris (I was PR Manager)
- I've been in England twice (Much Wenlock and Broadstairs)
- I did two music festivals in one week : Garorock and Terres du Son
- During the festival "Terres du Son", I had the opportunity to come with a media accreditation
- I take part in the Discover EU organized by the European Union : this year (2018) is the first edition and the project consists of giving to 15.000 teenagers aged 18 a pass to travel through European Union.
Teach, Learn, Share
It would be a pleasure to teach you French and if I can, why not teaching you horse-riding !
I would like to learn many more languages and cultures. I also would like to improve myself concerning self-confidence and self-reliance when I'm far from home.
Maybe we could share our experience around a tea or a coffee ?
