Enjoying the free champagne when it comes around while tuning out the ruckous of people trying to be louder than the party
I'm an art, music, culture lover and maker - but also a recovering perfectionist with a knack for left brain thinking. After orienting myself toward International Development, NGOs and environmental work and having a lot of brain juice steaming over critical thinking, I've let out my repressed creative self and I'm now studying and practising filmmaking, which I love and which allows me to synthetize all my passions and researchs.
I've always been curious to learn and see everything - my traveling being hampered by the fact that not being able to bring my collection of books, instruments, camera and art supplies is a big bummer to me. I like discovering other people's worlds, and meeting curious and creative people.
I can be quite enthusiastic at times, and quite reserved at others, especially in the mornings or when I'm tired. But I very rarely think ill of people, and it's more likely I'm daydreaming or deep in my plans, rather than giving a silent treatment! But I generally go the extra mile to be nice or entertain newly met people or hosts.
Cinema, art, graphic novels, photography, music (i play some guitar and piano), creating in general, buying books i don't find time to read, learning about everything (and their mom)
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies : Discovering new ones each day, but I'm quite fond of Kubrick, Malick, Alexander McQueen, and any film that offers a renewed visual experience of the world.
Music : The Dresden Dolls/Amanda Palmer, Soap & Skin, Jeff Buckley, Janis Joplin, Nina Simone, Bat for Lashes, Massive Attack, Bonobo, Gossip, the Distillers, The Yeah yeah yeahs, Zoë Keating, Florence & the Machine, Bitter Ruin, Jason Webley, Phoebe Jacobs, Tool, Noir Désir, Radiohead...
TV shows : The Daily Show / Colbert Report, Screenwipe with Charlie Brooker, Hungry Beast, Le petit journal, Le zapping...
TV series : Six Feet Under, The Wire, Sherlock, Buffy the Vampire slayer, plus more shameful likings I will only admit after torture or too many drinks.
Books : i collect piles to read, but never take enough time for it, but from the top of my head : Brave New World, 1984, the Bell Jar, the Handmaid's Tale, Night Flight, the Beach, John Green, Bill Bryson, Harry Potter (ahem)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Placed in an international math contest when I was 12.
Played in a metal band.
Got selected in festivals for my shorts films.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach : basic guitar and music theory, basic photography, drawing from life, some level of international economics and politics, looking for good lulz on the interwebz.
I'd love to learn : more musical skills, dance and martial arts skills, discover new artists/photographers/directors, baking recipes
